STORE FRESH,STORE SMART : REASONS NOT TO STORE EGGS IN THE REFRIGERATOR DOOR

Most refrigerator do comes with built-in egg rack in their door where you can safely store your eggs to last them longer so it would be rational to assume that's the best place to store them. But it is not advisable to use the same to keep them fresher for longer.

Food experts have warned not to use built-in egg racks to avoid sporadic and sudden temperature changes.
Door egg racks are susceptible to sudden changes in temperature owing to frequent opening and closing of refrigerator .

The thumb rule to keep an egg fresh for longer is to store it at room temperature ( about 20 degree Celsius ) or you can maintain constant temperature by using mid shelf in the refrigerator, where it will stay cool and at a constant temperature.

Also, the British Egg Information Service advises keeping the box of eggs away from other strong smelling foods, as egg shells are porous which can be easily be contaminated .You can also prevent contamination by storing them well away from raw meats.
